When it comes to woodworking and job site portability DeWalt miter saw stands are an industry standard. They are built-tough, quality stands, but there are a couple of design flaws you should know about before making a purchase DeWalt offers three miter saw stands: the DWX723 Heavy Duty, DWX724 Compact, and DWX726 Rolling. I’ve owned all three. Here are my thoughts.

DeWalt DWX723 Heavy Duty Miter Saw Stand

The DWX723 has a lightweight aluminum frame (35 pounds) supports up to 500 pounds and extends to handle 16-foot boards: Setup is a breeze with foldable legs and quick-release brackets that work with any miter saw. For me the stand is longer than I need and does not fit into the cab of my truck so I returned it for the smaller DWX724.

Best for: Tackling large-scale woodworking with long, heavy materials.

DeWalt DWX724 Compact Miter Saw Stand

The DWX724 is my favorite for both workshop and job site use. At 30 pounds, it’s easy to carry and supports 500 pounds, with a 10-foot material capacity. This stand is built tough. I’ve even banging mine around going on ten years without issue. Its compact size and comfortable carry handle make it a great addition to your kit.

Best for: Workshop woodworkers or DIYers needing a portable, space-saving stand.

DeWalt DWX726 Rolling Miter Saw Stand

The DWX726 has held my 120V 12″ DeWalt miter saw for almost 10 years. Its specified weight is 67 pounds, but it weighed in at 59 lbs. It supports 300 pounds and 8-foot materials—enough for most tasks. The stand is built strong with 360° welds and quality (no smell) wheels.

The stand has a pneumatic lift that helps lower the stand more than lift it in my opinion. The stand is meant to be raised up off the goring from the horizontal position but I’ve always open and closed it from the vertical dolly position.

The manual suggests storing the stand horizontally with a saw on it to reduce the risk of tipping. I’ve always stored the stand with my saw on it vertically without issue.

The problem with this rolling stand is it has two height settings and the cable and spring mechanism used to lock into those heights sometimes gets stuck and needs to be messed with to close the stand. For this reason I recently switched to the RIDGID rolling miter saw stand.

Best for: Woodworkers needing a mobile stand who don’t mind the potentially annoying latch mechanism.
