Capable of cutting up to 18-gauge materials, it handles sheet metal, corrugated metal, ducts, vinyl siding, wire, plastics, and even rubber or cardboard. Its 360-degree swivel head allows for maneuverability, making it easier to navigate curves or tight spaces during projects like HVAC installations or roofing repairs.
I’ve been using mine for over eight years, on many projects, and I’m still on the original blades, which are replaceable. From complete HVAC installs to shingle roofing repairs, to wire mesh this things still going strong.
Weighing less than 2 pounds, the attachment connects via a standard 1/4-inch hex shank, ensuring compatibility with many cordless tools. With DeWalt’s recent release of their Impact connect line of attachments that require multiple parts to attach to a drill, it’s cool that this old school attachment requires no extra parts to keep track of.
Priced around $50-$70, the DWASHRIR is a budget-friendly, yet high quality, alternative to dedicated shears. This tool leaves two straight edges: one wavy and on flat. This differs from a double cut shear, which leaves two straight, flat, edges.
