Why use an EZ curl bar? Curling with a straight bar can wreak havoc on your wrists. The EZ curl bar, with its bent shaft, reduces stress on the wrists and elbows, lowering the risk of injury. Here, I conducted a hands-on comparison of the REP EZ curl bar in chrome and ROGUE’s EZ curl bar in the black e-coat finish to help you decide which is right for you.

REP vs ROGUE EZ Curl Bars

Weights and Measurements

Both curl bars weigh 30lbs. The Rogue is 54.5 inches long with 10.5 inches of loadable sleeve. The REP is 55 inches long with 10″ loadable. It’s a draw.

Rogue’s bar diameter is 28.5 smooth / 29 knurled. REP’s is 30 smooth and 30.5mm at the knurl. I have large/XL hands, my wife has small hands and we both agree, the REP feels and distributes weight much better in hand. Winner REP! 100%

Curl Knurl

Both bars have a medium knurl but the Rogue’s is like a filled in volcano that’s more slippy and passive feeling than the REP’s chopped/mountain knurl, which feels like a true grippy medium. Winner REP!

Shaft and Sleeve

Rogue offers an e-coat shaft for $225 plus shipping, which we tested here, and a black cerakote shaft for $245 + shipping. Both bars have ringed bright zinc sleeves with composite bushings. The sleeve spin is decent and quiet, but the rings cause a zip noise when loading plates.

REP’s offerings include the chrome bar (shaft and sleeve) for $125 and a stainless curl bar (shaft and sleeve) for $269. Both come with smooth sleeves, free shipping, and hybrid bushings (bronze plus needle bearings). The rotation is slightly better but also noisier than the Rogue.

Warranty

Rogue’s curl bars, the e-coat and the Cerakote, come with a 5-year warranty against bending, etc. REP’s chrome bar comes with a 5-year warranty, and their stainless comes with a lifetime warranty. Booyah!

Bottom Line

The REP curl bar delivers a superior grip that is slightly more open (which I prefer) than the Rogue bar. Rogue’s version suits those preferring steeper angles and USA-made quality. Overall, the REP bar cost’s less, feels better in hand, and is more fun/exciting to use, which will keep me looking forward to using it. It’s the best curl bar I’ve used.
