Momentary Foot Pedals

I use momentary foot pedals to control shop vacs when using miter saws. It’s the next best thing to having a Bluetooth setup.

Momentary foot pedals, when used with vacuums connected to miter saws, activate only while pressed. They trigger the vacuum for dust collection during cutting, keeping the workspace clean and clear, and stop when released for efficient control.

It’s important to match the pedal’s amps to your vacuum’s amps for safe operation. For example, in this article, we’re using the pedal with the RIDGID WD1956B, a 16-gallon stainless steel 6.5HP vacuum rated at 12 amps, requiring a pedal with at least 12-15 amps to handle its power demands, ensuring reliable dust collection without overheating.

Hey, I'm Alex and I love tools. Having worked in carpentry and as a painting contractor I have a great appreciation for tool innovation. The freedom of cordless is amazing. These days, when not traveling with my wife Zhou, I remodel houses and write tool reviews. Please enjoy the site. :)
